14. Not just any dung beetle, but specifically the sacred scarab.....
Symbol of immortality and rebirth to the ancient Egyptians, and model for rafts and rafts of rings and seals.

Just as our idea of angels stems from high flying swans over Egypt, the afterlife comes from this little critter.

scarabs are great, but my all time favorite would have to be Crioprosopus magnificus aka Texas Canyon Longhorn Beetle

We had these, or something like them, in New Mexico when I was growing up. My mom called them Chinese beetles.
