CN Railroad track washout at Stackpool, Ontario

Amazing footage of just how fast a washout can occur under a mainline railroad track. Luckily no train was passing over, or it would have been a disaster. Much of it happens in just seconds. It shows the true power of water. According to the video, the washout was 142 ft long, 25 ft deep and 35 feet wide. That is 125,000 cubic feet, or a cube 50 feet on one side.

1. This is pretty amazing, but it makes me sick to think what that would do to a train that didn't know
what was coming.
