1. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right.
He's written more brilliant ones, more melodic ones, more poetic ones, but something about that song goes right to my heart.

I also love "Mississippi," in particular the basement tape version. It's just pensive and sweet and, for better or worse, i can totally relate.

2. It's alright, ma.
An amazing manifesto of independence.

Also, gates of eden has gorgeous, fantastic imagery woven into breathlessly long lines and verses.

11. The very BEST version of that song was on the live concert "Before the Flood" album
with Bob Dylan & The Band. I heard it playing in a record store back in 1975 or 6 & bought the album. Wish it were on youtube so I could post it.

with a pain that stops and starts
like a corkscrew up my heart
ever since we've been apart

12. (I used to care but) Things Have Changed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9EKqQWPjyo

A worried man with a worried mind
No one in front of me and nothing behind
There’s a woman on my lap and she’s drinking champagne
Got white skin, got assassin’s eyes
I’m looking up into the sapphire-tinted skies
I’m well dressed, waiting on the last train

Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I’m expecting all hell to break loose

People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

This place ain’t doing me any good
I’m in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons, do the jitterbug rag
Ain’t no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he’s got anything to prove

Lot of water under the bridge, lot of other stuff too
Don’t get up gentlemen, I’m only passing through

People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I’ve been walking forty miles of bad road
If the Bible is right, the world will explode
I’ve been trying to get as far away from myself as I can
Some things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can’t win with a losing hand

Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet
Putting her in a wheelbarrow and wheeling her down the street

People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I hurt easy, I just don’t show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity
Gonna get low down, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I’m in love with a woman who don’t even appeal to me

Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake
I’m not that eager to make a mistake

People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

13. depends on my mood
Hi,
I have been trying to post in some of the Bob threads today. I am a huge fan and this one is very very hard to respond to. I will say it depends on my mood since his songs cover such a broad range of moods and feelings. Well, I don't want to post a list of 20 songs, so I guess I will just leave it at it depends on my mood, sorry for a lame response!

Peace

18. Had a gig tonight ; no Dylan, just blues...Junior Wells, Albert King, Butterfield,
Edited on Wed May-25-11 02:08 AM by abq e streeter
but listening (and posting songs on facebook) off and on all day. Thanks for the link.....here's my top 25 in no particular order , although I realized I'd left out Caribbean Wind and 4th Time Around, so guess it's 27....Also bummed that the video of him (with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) doing Lonesome Town is not on you tube anymore. He really did a great job with it; sang it from the heart ; not goofing around ,and you could tell he really respected Rick Nelson and that song .

When the Ship Comes In
Please Crawl Out Your Window
When the Night Comes Falling From The Sky(out-take version, not the one on the Empire Burlesque)
Changing of the Guards
Mr.Tambourine Man
Jokerman
License to Kill
Sweetheart Like You
Desolation Row
Highway 61
Visions of Johanna
Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll
It's All Right Ma
Love Minus Zero/No Limit
Ballad of a Thin Man
Tombstone Blues
Memphis Blues Again
Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands
All Along The Watchtower (although I agree with a post saying Hendrix does "own" this)
Billy 4
Idiot Wind

Lily, Rosemary and The Jack of Hearts
Sara
Chimes of Freedom
My Back Pages
