weather event ore the years? I was in hurricane Juan in Halifax 9 years ago. The storm was supposed to hit south of the city but hit it dead on. I went out for a walk just before it arrived and had to go inside when the speed of the rain started to hurt me when it fell. Went inside my apartment and my cat was trying to herd me into a closet with desperate meows. When I double closed all the windows so he couldn't feel the air pressure outside he calmed right down. The whole crown of the tree outside my window moved about 15 to 20 feet during the worst of the hurricane. When all had cleared there was a chair 25 feet up in a tree by my building. And huge trees had fallen down all over the place (the soil is really shallow in Halifax because it is basically a rock so some of the big 100 year old trees didn't make it and toppled over). Debris everywhere but buildings remained intact. Not as bad as a tornado but scary nevertheless.
