If you don't live near an In-N-Out but really really really really need some Double-Double action and you have some money to burn, online food store (specialty: "the best" hard to get foodstuffs) Midtown Row is selling In-N-Out Double-Doubles (in Classic or Animal Style), freshly frozen with overnight shipping for $50 per two burgers (plus $6 flat shipping). Order before 11:59 p.m. PST on October 31; the burgers ship on November 1.

Their description says "We will ship with proper refrigeration via overnight mail, but reheat and consume at your own risk." Good thing Kenji has frozen Double-Double reheating advice:

After a totally failed attempt at reheating one whole, I realized that the best way is to separate it into individual components, and reheat each individually, tossing the veg and replacing them with fresh ones.

1. Seems then they should ship it in pieces
Let the person assemble it themselves after heating up the individual pieces.

I've actually thought about ordering certain things that way when I know I will be saving it for later (such as a Subway sandwich). I haven't had the nerve yet to try it though.

"I'll have a double-double, but can you just cook the meat and then just give me all the components wrapped separately? Thanks."

2. I don't understand the cult of In-N-Out at all. Totally undeserved.
I don't even eat burgers any more except vegetarian ones now. The last 2 times I was at In-N-Out I received burgers that had dry, tough, overcooked patties. Just terrible. The last one was on the day of the Super Bowl in 2003 and the In-N-Out was packed with Raider Nation monsters in full regalia. So I didn't bother getting in line again to complain about my burger. That's the last time I have ever set foot in one of those, and frankly I don't get it at all anyway. You can make a much better burger at home. And if you want to go out and eat a burger there are plenty of good choices.
