2. Tom Jones should not be singing "Purple Rain"

He's already fouled another Prince song ("Kiss").

3. Whatchoo talkin about Willis?
Sometimes I like Tom's version even better than Prince's. I have both on my computer and it's always fun when his cover comes up in the rotation.

5. I understand the sentiment, I really do
I used to feel the same way when anyone tried to cover a Led Zeppelin song.

Now I see it more as "Hey this guy likes something I like - he can't be all bad..."

If I had any musical ability at all, I'd try to cover Led Zep and Prince too.

As it is, I confine my enthusiastic hero worship to singing along in my car with the windows rolled up for I feel a deep and tender love towards my fellow travelers and wouldn't dream of subjecting them to my tunefully impaired renditions of songs they may love.

But I think Tom does a pretty good job.

6. Proving only that Gilmour is a total musical ho'.
I like Tom Jones on some stuff (HIS stuff, basically), but Purple Rain? Naaaaah.
