Call to Activism from President (I wish) John Kerry - Nuclear Option
I don't know if this has been posted yet, but John Kerry needs our help! Here's an email from him that was sent 4/1. Please help and keep kicked. Thx.

---------------------
Dear Coloradan4Truth,

Within a matter of days, the Senate could face a truly momentous decision - one with consequences that will reverberate across America for decades to come.

Senator Frist, the Republican Majority Leader, has a plan to make President Bush's judicial nominations immune to a Senate filibuster. If he can convince enough Republican Senators to go along, the nomination and confirmation of judges will become a tightly-controlled, one-party affair.

We're working hard to make sure the Senate doesn't cross this dangerous line. Here's how you can help.

Please Call Your Republican Senator Now!

Please contact Your Senator now. In polite and respectful language, make it clear that as one of his constituents you are counting on him to oppose Senator Frist's dangerous plan to deny millions of Americans any meaningful voice in decisions vital to America's future.

To help us track the number of calls our campaign is generating and know where we need to place our efforts, please let us know you've made the calls.

There is so much on the line in this debate. And, I am convinced that if we mobilize as quickly and effectively as possible, we can prevent the Senate from taking the dangerous course that Republican leaders have called for. Remember, we're fighting for the strength and vibrancy of democracy itself.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. If you need extra incentive for making those calls:

Imagine a world in which every appointment to the federal judiciary is a tightly-controlled, one-party exercise.
Imagine the kinds of judges that will sit on the federal bench - even on the Supreme Court -- if George W. Bush never needs a single Democratic vote.
Imagine the kind of decisions those judges will make that will directly affect your life and your constitutional rights.

2. Didn't Kerry promise to prevent drilling in ANWAR?
Didn't that pass both Houses? Where was the filibuster there?

Calls against a totalitarian State that even Kerry won't name are little more than spit into the wind.

4. This is a different situation.
No democrats will go along with this "nuclear option" that would threaten our democracy and neutralize their votes on radical right wing judge appointments. And, as far as Anwar goes you are being a little unfair. John Kerry fought hard along with many other democrats to prevent that amendment from passing. He can't be blamed because a couple of democrats voted their self-interests. We can't give up just because we didn't win Anwar. That is what the right wants us to do, so they can continue with their objectives with no interference. Please consider making a call.

5. I thought Kerry "promised" a filibuster.
on Anwar. Isn't that correct?

I think that you, like many, don't realize that this country is fully under the BushCo State now. I see your defense of Kerry on his promise about Anwar frivolous and an excuse for not recognizing the Fascist State. Yeah, I'm in a BAD mood.

6. Sorry to hear about your mood!
I can't agree with you though.I don't recall a promise to filibuster on Anwar. You appear to have just given up. Of course, we can not win them all. It tough with things the way they are. There are however, some signs that Bush is losing some clout and it is still fun to shake them up and show at least some fighting spirit.

3. I'm happy to see this post! All it takes is a call.
It is so important that we act on this request. We should not sit back and ignore this undemocratic maneuvering by Senator Frist and the republicans in the senate.
