Radical Right-Wing Groups Plan 9-15 Counter-Protest

Two extreme radical right-wing groups, "Move America Forward" and "A Gathering of Eagles" will be holding a morning rally on the National Mall, in Washington, D.C., either at 4th Street or 7th Street. They plan to arrive early and stay all day on Saturday, Sept. 15. The rally will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end by 11:30 a.m. so that they can all get to International ANSWER’s march route on time.

They have a permit application to line the sidewalk along ANSWER’s march route. The precise locations are also being negotiated with the DC Park Service.

They plan to be able to announce precise locations for the rally and march route after Wednesday, Sept. 5.

I'm just doing my part in keeping an eye on these bums.

1. I doubt any of them will be there because
if bushcheney go to war against Iran sometime in early September all the proud flag waving patriots of those groups will all be lined up at the Army recruiting station to give all their positive energy to the cause to save democracy against some evil force in the middle east. That's why we attacked Iraq right?

2. So true...
These radical right-wing extremists couldn't muster more than a mere 100 counter-protestors (http://www.seacoastonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070830/NEWS/708300352/-1/NEWS14&sfad=1) to show up at a recent Kennebunkport, ME, anti-war rally, where 4000 patriots turned out to demand an end to the War in Iraq.

3. They beat up on small groups of women at the DC marches
They did on March 17 and they'll do it again. How brave they are! We saw 2 middle aged women, one had been thrown on the ground and had her sign ripped up. They didn't bother us, we had 17 people, and some of our guys look like they could really kick your ass, so we were left alone.

4. They'll probably have 10-20 people there
if past history is any indication.

5. 10-20? I expect more than that...
I think they'll have a few more than that...

Somewhere in the ball-park of 1000, would be my guess.

That's still a tiny turn-out, of course.

Their web page claims that, "This September is make or break. We cannot allow Congress to repeat the betrayal of the Vietnam era. We need to pull together, and the fact of the matter is that GOE is putting on the Sept. 15 rally and counter-demonstration. Every other group is coming together that day under our name and efforts."

They'll muster everyone they can - they know they're fighting a losing battle.

I also expect them to be very unruly - as must desperate people are.

The 15th should be very interesting - see you all there!!!

6. I'll be there
Hope you can make it to the meetup on Friday night.

We also need to figure out a spot to meet before the march so we try to march together. I was looking at the map, and I think somewhere around H St. and 17th or Jackson Place looked pretty good. I need to look at it again. The gathering place is Lafayette Park.

7. Marching, as well...
I'm marching with the vets, so my first priority will be to find where they are organizing.

This will be my fourth major protest, and third rally in DC.

I noticed your quote: I met Nancy Skinner, by the way - at a Michael Moore book signing in Chicago.

I loved her radio show, and voted for her in the primaries. Is she still on the air somewhere?

11. Nancy is not on the air
She was on our Air American affiliate during 2005 and went off at the end of that year. She then ran for Congress in '06, losing by only 5% to long-time incumbent, Joe Knollenberg. I volunteered on her campaign and we became good friends. I'm hoping she can finish the job in '08 -- we're going to have a primary this time out and it won't be a cakewalk, but I'm confident she can pull it off. She hasn't officially announced yet, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

If you want to donate to her campaign and help her get off to a good start, go to: http://www.actblue.com/page/helpskinnerwin

This will also be my 4th march and third in DC. I was there in September of '05 and January of this year and in New York in April of '06.

Please try to come to the meetup Friday night.

I'll be there to march on 9/15. And I'd love to march with the DU contingent. I did during the 9/2005 protest as well. :hi:

Edit: Never mind - found the thread, which here:

12. We might have met in '05
That was my first march.

Hope to see you at the Hawk & Dove on Friday night.

We still need to pin down a meeting spot for Saturday for the march.

14. 10-15? I don't know. I know in the past when the Freepers did the counterprotest
that was about all they got, however, for some reason they really got a lot more then that for the March on the Pentagon. I was a little surprised myself.

10. Yep, 10 freepers and 20 porta-potties
That's the usual turnout for their counter-rallies.

all 15 of them.
