Help me please...
I don't understand why the Democratic party wants to lose the presidency??? The Republicans took the last Democratic nominee, who is a decorated war hero, and beat him with the draft dodging, AWOL, mental midget. What will they do to Obama, or Clinton. The media wants a weak Democratic candidate so that the Republicans can keep the White House. The only person left in the race that the Republicans cannot find anything to smear him with is John Edwards. I hope that the Democratic nominee will win in November, but I'm afraid that we are about to do it again. That is, lose an election that we should win hands down!
How to lose:
1. Let the corporate owned media choose the nominee for the Democratic party.
2. Don't really listen to what the candidates are saying or read their policy statements.
3. Allow the corporate media to ignore the more progressive candidates(Edwards, Kucinich).
4. Have a bitter primary campaign with a lot of infighting, to give the Republicans all the sound bites
they will need to use against the Democratic nominee in November.
5. Get caught up in the feel good, no substance, candidate and don't hold him/her to any kind of
scrutiny.

Believe me the Media wants another Republican President... and it is beginning to look like the Democratic Party is going to give them one.

What can you do? Support Edwards, with your money, time and vote. If you do already, great! If not, ask yourself why you want to lose in November?

1. The Republicans don't take Edwards seriously.
They see him as a joke--a man who has already lost once to George Bush.

4. It wasn't John Edwards who lost to Bush. It was John KERRY.
Stop this misrepresentation. I have posted elsewhere many times why anointing Kerry early in the primary race was a stupid and losing strategy.

If the Republicans really thought Edwards' candidacy was an easy win, they would hype him over the other two, not ignore him. The right wing is smart enough to promote the weakest Democrats for the nomination. That is why they have turned the Democratic nomination process into a horse race between Clinton (the Republican dream candidate) and Obama (a guy who doesn't really appreciate what he would be up against). Moreover, a Clinton candidacy would bring out so many right wingers that she could cause us to lose other races besides the presidency.

The Democrats are divided between the group that wants to elect the first woman president and the group that wants to elect the first African American president. That is a goal that you want to pursue ONLY if you have a guaranteed winning situation. We don't, and this media promoted horse race could have us wind up with another four years under a Republican administration.

John Edwards came out with a winning message and a winning platform before Clinton and Obama, and he gives the best presentation of it to the people. The Democratic party insiders have staked claims to either Clinton or Obama and are as responsible as the media for ignoring Edwards' candidacy. The Democratic party insiders are circling the firing squad, and our only hope in November is that enough Democrats wake up and support Edwards all the way to the convention.

7. I'm just saying what the GOPers around me have said.
And what I've read. The conservatives just don't take Edwards seriously. Now, maybe that's going to be their downfall, but that's the impression I've gotten.

2. It's pretty deceptive. Looking at McCain right now leads to
a sense of security that no matter who the Dems run they could beat him. However, the polls seem to indicate that no matter what, they are going to put up one horrible fight.

3. Your logic (or rather, lack thereof) amazes me
You don't want to lose the presidency, so you ask us to support someone who just lost his own state by some 37 points? Who has attracted no significant support anywhere? Is there any sort of reality that can penetrate the hope-springs-eternal minds of the Edwards supporters?

The same lack of logic that causes people to fall for the newly minted corny populism of a conservative ex-one-time-senator with no record and no experience transforms into the cockamamie idea that this same failed political construct would have a better chance to beat the Republicans. Amazing, just amazing.
