Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is allowing John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, his position on the Ohio Republican primary ballot illegally.
There are two ways to get one's name on this ballot: Go to considerable expense and effort to gather the required signatures, or agree to accept public financing, along with some spending limits, for the primary elections. McCain applied for public financing and thus had his name on the ballot. He has since chosen to reject the public financing, but has not gathered the requisite signatures. This has saved his campaign the time and money it would have spent to gather signatures - an unfair advantage.
Brunner has passed the buck. Her office is stating that the Democratic National Committee has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission. Brunner was elected to follow the laws of Ohio, and she should start right now. Let the DNC and FEC sort out their issues later.

...Four Great Lakes state legislatures have passed the compact, and it is well on its way in two other states. Now, 17 Republican Ohio senators are standing in the way. As a fellow Republican, I urge Sen. Harris and his colleagues to stop stalling. Pass the Great Lakes Compact as it was passed in the Ohio House without delay.
Letter to the editor: When it comes to wasting money, Bush takes the prize

Kevin O'Brien would have us believe a "President" Barack Obama would be mining our pockets for the last of our change. Meanwhile, Bush has been mining taxpayers' pockets to the tune of $16,000 per taxpayer for a war based on lies. Why hasn't Bush been impeached?
I'm a Hillary fan, and I would prefer to hear more from Obama than the words "hope" and "change," but we would be much better off with Obama than with John McCain, who would consider the possibility of keeping troops in Iraq for another 100 years and loading up the pockets of those awarded no-bid contracts under Bush. Again, why hasn't Bush been impeached?
The Clintons left this country with a surplus budget, while Bush and his cronies have put our country in a horrible position, economically and politically. I "hope" voters will realize the mistake of voting for Bush and "change" this country for the better by voting for a Democratic president.
