Poll watchers throughout Ohio are noting large numbers of Republican voters crossing over to vote in the Democratic Primary between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

In the Republican roost of Chagrin Falls, veteran poll worker Liz McFadden was amazed at the number of people jumping the party's ship. Democrats accounted for 70 percent of the voters in her precinct, one of seven at the village's high school.

"That's a complete reversal of what it normally is, even more so," she said. "I've never seen a switch like this."

The defectors had motives both pure and sinister...

2. Wonder how many of them are Rushbots?
Rush was attempting to mobilize his (m)asses to vote for Hillary today. I wonder how many of his sheep actually are doing so?

3. I have read and heard this
in several places today.

If the exit polls show the GOP cross over going for Hillary (in the past in has favored Obama) what will that mean.

To me it will mean that they want to both screw us up and get Hillary since they perceive her to be the easier mark (and they may have a point).

4. IMO,
the defectors who decide to vote for sinister reasons have no idea who will be easier for McCain to beat.

Half will believe it's the female and the other half will believe it's the scary black man.

They will probably cancel each other out.

I really don't see them as a problem.

6. UGH!
WHY do we let Republicans and independents decide OUR candidates? We're the ones who are going to have to work for them. We're the ones who are paying for them. No one should have the right to decide but us.

7. Yes, it strikes me as extremely weird.
You clearly have people motivated to attempt to vote for what they consider would be the wrong Democratic candidate, with all the consequences that could ensue.

I understand that not all states allow this. What is the justification offered for it in those that do?
