Question regarding threads here...
Have been reading the threads in all the forums for quite a while--as have you all (yes, yes, I know)

It amazes me how the inter-candidate debates have raged--it's actually quite similar to that of the Democratic-Republican issue.

In this case--it's the Dean supporters against the others--and the Dean supporters are being put on the defensive for 1) attacks on others 2) mean-spirited messages and 3) not being open to criticism and debate.

Having read many of these threads, though--I'm finding that this is, in fact, not the way things are in reality.

Just a quick look at the threads at this point (10:30 EST)-- I'm finding numerous threads (by the same people) ripping into Dean and crowing about their candidate.

I know, I know-- it's the pot calling the kettle black syndrome.

The point is-- it's friggin pathetic.

Folks should just support their candidate and keep their eyes on the prize in terms of getting * out of office (preferably with a perp walk and prison time for many in the administration)

Yeah-- this has been said before, I'm sure-- hell, I've read them.

But damn-- this is just so blatant right now.

I know there aren't rules against this, per se--but would some of you just realize that all you're doing is driving folks away--and if you continue on that line--all it shows is that you're no better than Rove & Co.

I've seen it bandied about (quickly lost in the "My candidate is best--your guys sucks" threads) that the issues should be discussed--not the message controlling "Dean folks are mean" attacks that are constantly cropping up.

The more egregious offenders know who they are--one hopes that something can be done about it.

Later folks--I'm off to work on getting * out of office--hope you'll join in the campaign

3. So very sorry
Question is--

Is this the way people want to have things go for the next few months?

How's that?:-)

4. Meh
I don't really concern myself with it too much. I come to DU for news and discussion, but you're right that the candidate discussion can get downright nasty. I try to avoid it, but it doesn't really worry me. Frankly, it's somewhat encouraging that people are fired up about this candidate or that; it shows that people are interested in the process. I have my leanings but it's still too early for me to make a commitment. There's lots of other good stuff here besides the candidate flame-fests.

5. Same here
I come for the LBN, the Foreign Affairs and GD--

It's just when I came in tonight to this forum--it was so blatant and shocking (and it continues I might add)--it's really quite disheartening.

Ann Richards said it tonight-- Keep on Message--

Too bad a number of folks cannot see past their own opinions and do that.

Ah well--and so it goes on...

7. You are correct
It is quite blatant tonight, and it can be disheartening. When I feel that way, I try to remember that there are some people here who are trying to be disruptive, and it's only because this is a way for them to get attention. Paying my attention only encourages the behavior.

2. Truly it is pathetic
and I am tired of it. It's not necessarily the Dean supporters (yes I am one) - it's simply a matter of trying to keep up with all the BS, and after a certain point it gets frustrating, which in turn leads to name-calling and flame wars. Too bad some people on this board (yes your are right - they know who they are) won't just focus on why their choice is the best...simply a reflection on real campaigns, which eventually resort to mudslinging.

9. Truthfully? I like it better here than on some boards.
I've seen some of my fellow Kucinich supporters go completely off the deep-end. So much so that I felt compelled to call them out for damaging the campaign effort.

I won't pretend Howard Dean is on my tope ten list of favorite people, but that's just my gut instincts. His stands on the issues aren't so far and away from what I want that I couldn't support him if he gets the nomination, and honestly I thought he came off very well in the debate tonight in Philly. (unless you count the pissed off old guy at the very end )

I was surprised to find myself thinking that all 9 did fairly well in this one, though Lieberman seems to have a penchant for dropping in the wrong thing at precisely the worst moment. I can honestly say I dislike Lieberman about 10 times more powerfully than I dislike Howard Dean.

In any case, I think maybe the bashing here must be easier for me to avoid because it really doesn't seem as bad as it is in some places. Then again I make it a rule not to open threads with idiotic flames in the titles, too. Cuts down on a lot of the stupidity. ;)

6. You see a lot of BS
Claiming that it is all started by over-the-top Dean supporters, but then you look at the threads in this forum and right now one person has posted 6 Dean bashing threads.

Sorry, but Dean supporters are not the ones starting the ruckus, although many of them do aggravate the situation by responding to the troll who keeps starting the threads.

8. Agreed
Troll-baiting isn't worth it.

To quote Granpa Simpson... "It angrys the blood...":D

Much better to have any blatant bait threads fall into the oblivion they so richly deserve.;-)
