NBC's Chuck Todd has been named chief White House correspondent by the network

Chuck Todd was just announced by NBC as Chief White House correspondent...wonder how this will go.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/1208/NBCs_Todd_named_chief_WH_correspondent_.html

"NBC's Chuck Todd has been named chief White House correspondent by the network, with correspondent Savannah Guthrie joining him on the beat.

Todd will remain political director and "First Read" editor, but now also assumes the top White House title that previously belonged to David Gregory, who happened to beat out Todd as moderator of "Meet the Press." But Todd gets a "Meet" title, too: He'll become contributing editor on the Sunday show.

"Chuck truly made his mark in the 2008 Presidential election season where he offered unmatched political analysis. His objective, smart, real reporting has been honed through the years in Washington and makes him uniquely qualified to lead our White House coverage team," said NBC News President Steve Capus in a statement. "Savannah also emerged in 2008 as one of our primary go-to reporters. Hard-charging, dedicated and resourceful, she has earned a great reputation and the respect of her peers."

1. Seems like a slap in the face to me...
He gets Gregory's previous job after they were in contention for MTP? I think I could stand Todd over Gregory any day, but I suppose it depends on how much they have to cowtow to the GE bosses.

I usually prefer Todd over Gregory, but Chuck has been annoying lately too, especially when he climbs into the Frat Pit that is Morning Joe. And remember when Chuck observed that McCain and Palin acted really awkward together, and the campaign made him post a "Just kidding guys, everything is awesome!" mea culpa post on First Read? I'm not sure how I feel about Savanna either. I just remember her in hats and mittens hanging around Alaska, supposedly reporting on Sarah Palin but not reporting anything. Also, I had read that Chuck Todd was one of the possible replacements for 1600 PA Ave, and that ended up going to Shuster...I don't know if anyone should be stuck with that shitty show.

This is a man who deals in mathematical statistics and reality, more so than opinion.

David Gregory on the other hand, -- well let me say this. About two or three years ago at one of those journalist/politician get-togethers, I can remember Gregory on stage with Karl Rove while Rove was doing his infamous "rap dance." Good ole' David was grinning, moving his feet and trying to clap in rhythm with Rove's antics.

What self-respecting, decent human being would want to be caught dead, no less on camera, in that situation.

Fuck David Gregory. And good luck to Chuck Todd.

5. His words are subtle, but deadly pro-Republican. I can't take listening to him - I know the dagger
is coming. He has a vile agenda - even when appearing and presenting his view of the news on Washington Journal. He was really up for snide comments about the Clintons. Typical GE.
