Look who's bailing out Wall Street
http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2008/news/0801/gallery.wall_street_infusions/index.html

Devastated by tightening credit markets and the mortgage mess, Wall Street firms have sent out an S.O.S.

Their cries have been answered in large part by overseas investors, which have agreed to inject billions of dollars into America's biggest banks.

The rescue effort has been led by investment funds run by foreign governments, also known as sovereign wealth funds, which have forged a string of deals in recent months.

5. They're broke.
All the banks are broke. They have assets which are worthless, they have no value.
The bankers also know there is absolutely NOTHING the government can do. The problem is too big. The losses are astounding. If they were to post to true value on their balance sheets, they would all show unfathomable losses.
It would cause complete panic.
They are praying that the public doesn't find out.

6. No worries...
.. these foreign entities will soon own these banks.

In the spirit of globalization, I hope they fire every stupid asshole who had the slightest involvement in this fraud, and that as many of them as possible are financially ruined.

7. Your Wish
is granted.

I just read recently that Country Wide mortgage was bankrupt, and they were "rescued" by B or A.
Morgan Stanley is about to fold.
Washington Mutual Bank is ready to fold.

Now anyone who buys these is really certifiable. If they had any brains, they would wait a while longer to see what happens.

I also read that Citibank is bankrupt. Apparently, company officials have been flying back and forth to Saudi Arabia, so deal with the Saudi price who owns around 10% of the company. Seems he's not so happy about things.

Also, Northern Rock will probably close its doors. It might be bought out, but most probably will be absorbed by the Bank of England.

NOT good.

8. I'll be satisfied if just for once...
.. it isn't just the little guys that have to take the hit.

Sure, I think most people who bought mortgages they could not afford were stupid. But these things were sold, sold, sold and I'm pretty sure there were lots of lies, lies and more lies.

Just this once I want the execs and the business owners and the whole stinking pile of folks who willingly perpetrated this fraud to be held accountable. Just once.

10. bailing them out with high interest loans
I have read...kind of likes the loans we used to make to second-rate economies around the globe, with all sorts of strings attached and a long-term master plan.
