The above article, written in early 2006, makes the following prediction concerning the the opening of an Iranian oil bourse in late March of 2008:

Americans cannot allow this to happen, and if necessary, will use a vast array of strategies to halt or hobble the operation’s exchange:

· Sabotaging the Exchange—this could be a computer virus, network, communications, or server attack, various server security breaches, or a 9-11-type attack on main and backup facilities.

With the cutting of the undersea cables serving Iran, I believe the US has severed the communication network. Should the Iranians push on with their plans, will we see an infrastructure attack before the end of the month? Stay tuned.

2. A little over-stated

" The Chinese and the Japanese will be especially eager to adopt the new exchange, because it will allow them to drastically lower their enormous dollar reserves and diversify with Euros"

Since the Chinese and Japanese are swimming in US dollars, anything that is a threat to the dollar, is a threat to them.

But it'll certainly be interesting to see where this all goes....
