Some 'fun' facts from 1989....
I came across an unopened bank statement the other day when I weeded out my 35 years of tax returns, disposing of the instruction manuals and keeping just the returns. In with the statement, was a flier with the credit union's loan rates, CDs, and dividend rates. This is from Nov. 28, 1989:

Fixed rate secured loans
0-24 months 10.5%
25-48 months 11.5%
49-60 months 12.5%
61-72 months 14.0%

Visa Credit Card 13.56%
Home Equity 11.5%

Certificates of Deposit APR

Money Market 90 days 8.25%
26 week 8.20%
1 year 8.00%
3 year 7.80%
5 year 7.80%

Checking Account Balance 5.25%
Savings Account Balances
$5-$2499 5.75%
$2500-$19999 6.25%
$20000 & up 7.00%

I still bank at this credit union and have been receiving about .0425% on my account balances over the past year.
