Where can I find info on small business startups throughout the years.
I have a theory that mergers, buyouts, and cost-cutting have made it much more difficult for entrepreneurs to start new businesses today than it was for them to do so during any of the last several recessions. I'd like to see accurate data that shows the number of small business startups per year for the past several decades. Does anyone know where I can find that information?

1. Try:
NFIB Research Foundation

The NFIB Research Foundation is one of the leading sources of information about small business in the United States. A 501(c)(3) organization, the foundation conducts research about policy-related issues as well as the business practices and economic impact of small firms through its Small Business Economic Trends reports and other economic research studies. The empirically based information about small business, the product of more than 30 years of research, is available to policymakers, small-business owners, scholars and the public. The foundation is not a grant-making organization.

2. Neither the inner world of the financial dealers or people themselves
Want to help the small business person.

The small person who has access to true friends with money,or family memebers with money, has an easier time of it.

But the average invester wants a "Shure" thing. Which is whatever fad that the media is braggin on. For instance, tech companies during the dot com bubble, or housing-related involvement until recently.
