It is one thing to be swindled during foreclosure
but to think that "Christian" companies would really help..

Foreclosure 'help' ended up bringing more debt

When Chantae Grandsberry of Brooklyn Center was looking for a company to help save her home, she thought she'd found the perfect partner: An Oklahoma firm that had biblical scriptures on its website and billed itself as a Christian-based foreclosure prevention specialist.

"That was important to me and my husband," said Grandsberry, who is six months pregnant. "We didn't think that a Christian-based company would do anything wrong."

But Grandsberry lost her family home last October after the company, American Foreclosure Specialists, failed to deliver -- even after collecting more than $1,200 in advance, which is a violation of Minnesota law, according to Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson.

3. Never, EVER do business with company that advertises with a flag AND a fish!
Years ago I saw a transmission shop around the corner from me flying both the flag and the fish on their sign. Wasn't six months after they opened that the local news channel was doing exposes on their thievery. A few years later and they did more, yet people still went to them 'cuz they could surely be trusted what with the flags and fish... :eyes:

2. Whenever a Christian feels compelled to announce the fact
and relate it to how he does business, I check to make sure my wallet hasn't been lifted and sprint for the door.

If someone is hiding his business behind the cross, then he's got something to hide.

Of course, I'm a sour old atheist, so my alarm bells already start to ring whenever I get near a Conspicuous Christian. I just feel awful for all the really good people of faith who are getting taken by these scumbags.

If patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels, then religion remains the best one.

4. I just love those advertisements for Christian Women's House Cleaning Service
One of my favorite lines: Don't tell me you are a christian, let me figure it out all by myself.

7. I used to see these charlatans and thieves
and pity God. No more. If God exists, he should be more than capable of defending his own name and reputation.

Without exception, the folks who have really screwed me and deceived me have called themselves "Christian."

What's worse is that these creeps refuse to police themselves. They excuse the behavior by saying Christians aren't perfect just forgiven. It is very unusual for them to take disciplinary action and confront folks in the church - even though both Scripture and legal precedent permit it.

I heard a high level leader in one of our local mega churches comment once that the reason his church did not publish a directory of the Christian businesses represented in the congregation was simply because the church feared liability from such an implied endorsement. No doubt the leaders are aware of the problem and choosing to ignore it rather than confront the wrongdoing.

8. Most of the REAL Christian businessmen I know....
walk the walk before they talk the talk. And you can figure it out before they tell you. A mature Christian will tip generously and NEVER, EVER leave a cheap tip and a Bible tract in lieu of a charitable tip.
