A modular solar home takes root
http://news.com.com/2300-11392_3-6201201-1.html

"Green" homes, coming right up. PowerHouse Enterprise has designed a house--which could attain official green-building certification--that is delivered by flat-bed truck and crane. In June, the Lawrence, Mass.-based company shipped a two-unit model home to a site in Cambridge, Mass.

The home, which consists of two units that share a common wall, is still under construction, but CNET News.com toured the site with one of its builders to get a peek at its environmentally friendly features, including a passive solar heating system.

2. That's great, but isn't it si"green" mobile Home with all the vulnerabilities
they have, like total destruction in a bad storm?

7. Modular and Mobile are two different things
Modular homes are just as strong as stick built homes. The only way you can tell the
difference is in the thickness of the center wall of the building. (Twice as wide as a
conventional wall.) It's attached to the foundation in a similar manner as a conventional
home.

BTW, I live in a modular home.

A PowerHouse is a thoughtfully designed, carefully built, high quality house that is crafted for and delivered to your site. Each PowerHouse is designed to reduce the need for energy while maximizing visual and spatial impact. Each PowerHouse seamlessly integrates state of the art energy generation with simple, common sense systems.

While a PowerHouse costs roughly same as a conventional house of similar size and amenities, it does away with the excess and poisons of conventional construction. Our houses use materials and resources wisely, waste less and deliver more
