The Royal Society Chimes In On Gore's Climate "Controversy" - Vancouver Sun
EDIT

Here is what the Royal Society says about the eight most common claims by skeptics:

1. Climate change is nothing to do with humans: "Levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are now 35 per cent greater than they have been for 650,000 years. From the radioactivity and chemical composition of the gas we know that this is mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels, as well as the production of cement and the widespread burning of the world's forests."

2. CO2 makes up only a small part of the atmosphere and so cannot be responsible for global warming: "Even in tiny concentrations has a large influence on our climate . . . . Before industrialization CO2 made up about 0.03 per cent of the atmosphere or 280 ppm. Today, due to human influence it is about 380 ppm. Even these tiny quantities have resulted in an increase in global temperatures."

3. Rises in levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are the result of global warming, not the other way around: "The recent steep increase in the level of CO2 -- some 30 per cent in the last 100 years -- is not the result of natural factors. This is because, by chemical analysis, we can tell that the majority of this CO2 has come from the burning of fossil fuels . . . CO2 from human sources is almost certainly responsible for most of the warming over the last 50 years. There is much evidence that backs up this explanation and none that conflicts with it."

4. Observation of temperatures taken by weather balloons and satellites do not support the theory of global warming: "Discrepancies have been found to be related to problems with how the data was gathered and analysed and have now largely been resolved."

2. I think you are misinterpetting that post
they are saying the alleged "errors" in Gore's film, as pointed out by British petroleum paid hacks, are incorrect.

7. It was confusing. And they should have called the shills "deniers", not "skeptics"
Since what the corporate shills are doing is misinformation, not skepticism. Apply some skepticism to their arguements and their arguements fade to irrelevancy.

3. I'd like to send this to my skeptic friends, but
it wouldn't change their minds. Sort of like how Bush is the greatest president, ever. To some people, no matter what the facts, they adjust their position to suit their position.

Well, I am not going to spend much more time on this subject. I spent over three decades in a highly frustrated state, knowing full well where this was headed. Sadly, it appears to be heading there much much faster than even I had imagined.

The garbage trucks will show up on Wednesday morning here, just like they do every week, to pick up the weekly mountains of garbage the neighbors produce. And likewise, all over the nation. And the cars will continue to roam and travel all over. And the planes will fly. And our activities may slow. The truth is, we've created an extremely interesting world. A hell of a lot of technical stuff. Things. And we've managed to create societies whereby we can live without producing anything for ourselves. It's all done somewhere else by companies. It's all great. Except it's killing us.

So, it has been fun.

4. That's some major debunking, for sure ... the truth hurts ...
... and we're only beginning to experience how bad the pain is going to be, for all life on this planet.

Mr Gore - RUN FOR PRESIDENT.
