Blame Schwarzenegger & the GOP for the CA wildfire infernos

It's Armageddon here tonight in San Diego, with over 300,000 people evacuated and many more soon to flee as gale-force winds drive two mega-fires that started in east county westward towards the sea.

So who can we blame for the worst wildfire in CA history?

Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Republicans!

he LAT article has disappeared. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fi...

But it was copied by Sen. Christine Kehoe here :

<snip>

Sen. Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego), who was on the blue ribbon commission, said it really comes down to money — and officials agreeing to make firefighting and prevention priorities.

1. Oh come on now!
I'm all for a good hearty round of republican bashing, but this problem has been decades in the making!

Tunnel Fire of 1991: Governor Gray Davis

Biscuit Fire of 2002: Governor Gray Davis

Cedar Fire of 2003: Governor Gray Davis

:P

2. The Biscuit Fire was in OREGON....
The question Southern Californians are asking, as their homes are burning down, is "Where is the California National Guard???"

Hint: They're on an extended vacation to a sunny, sandy resort....

3. Part of that fire complex was in California
but you're right, the national guard is... indisposed at the moment.

I don't blame Arnold for that though.

4. If you remember this was a presidential issue in Bush/Gore
Bush accused the Clinton/Gore Administration for allowing environmentalists to not allow proper forestry and allowing brush to overwhelm the forests. They all but accused Clinton for the Yellowstone fire. So what happened when Bush got in?

5. What happened when Bush got in?
He ordered the Forest Service to manage our forests for logging and to call it "thinning." Thinning is checkerboard clearcutting, and it dries out the forest and makes it even more fire prone. We'll be dealing with that legacy for decades...

7. I wish people wouldn't jump the gun on using the word "armageddon."
If we overuse it now, we're going to have to invent a new word for when things get really bad.

Noooooooooooooo.... Peak Vocabulary!
