1. This is the one I'm waiting for
It looks like they're basing it on the Solstice frame. Very cool.

I wish they GM was using in-wheel drive technology like this:

6. For small motors, the in wheel drives are very efficient.
With the large, heavier motors, there are some serious problems dealing with the suspension. The shock from the the larger motors is proportional to the square of the mass.

For that reason, and some others, the large electric vehicles may have to use centrally mounted motors with shafts to the wheels similar to the systems on front wheel drive gasoline automobiles.

7. I'm looking forward to the Tesla WhiteStar.
High performance luxury sedan along the lines of the BMW 5 series.

Edited to add:

I'm waiting for someone to release a long range fully electric car in my price range. I currently don't drive a motor vehicle anywhere. To get from point A to point B I use our meager bus system or bike. I get a small amount of exercise, and I get to stick it to the oil, gas, and car companies who refuse to market a fully electric car every time I ride a single mile in any direction.

It's pretty funny to watch the death throes of the car culture.

I want, I want...

I want one. I want one.

Gotta have it.

I remember the first time I read Katie Alford's exegesis on automotive ads in Divorce Your Car. She asked why it is that one always sees SUV ads with the SUV flying along alone on some winding mountain road, driving into the absolute wilderness, when in fact, the real SUV experience is being stuck 4 hours on the Santa Monica Freeway breathing dangerous fossil fuel waste fumes.

The car companies want you to believe, she said, that they're selling freedom when in fact what they are selling is slavery with a healthy dollop of death on the side.

Now they say they're selling environmentalism.

I think I'll throw up.
