Solar Night Industries and VETSS Meet With DOE to Discuss Shortage of Solar Installers

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/07/08 -- Solar Night Industries, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SLND) executives Tim Corbet (CEO) and Jason Loyet (President/Chairman) met late in 2007 with the Senior Staff of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) in Washington, D.C., to discuss issues and offer key recommendations for accelerating the adoption of solar and wind energy systems within residential, commercial, and governmental sectors. Also in attendance was Charlie Boyd, President & CEO, VETSS Group, Inc. VETSS(TM) is a subsidiary Company of Solar Night Industries.

The primary topic centered on their projections for solar capacity within the next five years and the reciprocal need for qualified installers to handle that capacity. Solar Night's projection was a need exceeding 150,000 more jobs by 2011. The opportunity for filling this void was articulated by retired Marine LTC Boyd, who created VETSS to solve this most complex and compelling problem. "We envision retraining returning military veterans to become an 'Army of Installers' to un-clog the potential bottleneck of customers waiting for installment of solar, thermal and wind energy systems," said Boyd. All parties agreed that the acceleration is needed in order to meet our nation's rising peak energy demands and to increase the renewable energy capacity.

DOE discussed their initiatives in this area, including a study regarding training and certification programs. The mission of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is to enhance energy efficiency and productivity, bring clean, reliable and affordable energy technologies to the marketplace, and make a difference in the everyday lives of Americans by enhancing their energy choices and their quality of life.
