GE, Horizon to announce deal tomorrow

Monday, January 28, 2008

ALBANY — Horizon Wind Energy and GE Energy will announce a new deal between the two companies Tuesday at a news conference for the ribbon-cutting formally opening Horizon Wind Energy’s new Northeast Regional Office in downtown Albany.

“We’re growing here in Albany, that’ll be a part of the ... but we do have something more exciting to talk about,” Horizon Wind Energy Public Relations Manager Gary Davidson said. “GE, they make turbines and we use them and put them in wind farms. So, yeah, we’re working with GE.”

Davidson said more details about the deal will be released at the ribbon cutting ceremony at 52 James St.

Representatives from the companies are scheduled to be joined at the event by Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings; Bob Callendar, vice president for programs at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; Carol Murphy , executive director of the Alliance for Clean Energy New York; and Gavin Donohue, president and CEO of the Independent Power Producers of New York State.
