Cashmere goats in India face starvation
SRINAGAR, India -- More than 100,000 Himalayan goats - famed for their pashmina wool - or cashmere - face starvation after their desert habitat was blanketed with snow, while three people died during the region's worst storms in three decades, officials said Thursday.

Worst storms in 3 decades? What was going on 3 decades ago to explain this! That was the 70's when we were being warned about "Global Cooling". Maybe it's back.

2. I have a gorgeous hand-embroidered Kashmiri pashmina shawl
that I treasure. Those goats are almost priceless. This is tragic.

3. Oy. I guess we've got ANOTHER one, folks, who either
doesn't know about how global warming causes worse extremes of both hot and cold weather and worse storms.................

or who won't stay here very long......

6. Goats today, people tomorrow
I was wondering what would happen if the freak weather in Asia happened in the mid-summer during peak growing season in China and Central Asia. Not snow, mind you, but severely disturbed weather.

We can deal with expensive oil and even drastic changes in our consumption patterns. We can deal with warmer weather and seacoast loss. But if we lose the ability to grow food for even one season ... I don't want to think about it.

:scared:
