Climate neutral forum
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched a new online network on Thursday to help countries, cities and firms aiming to be "climate neutral" exchange ideas on ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Neutral Network will connect people around the world who have committed to become climate neutral by reducing and offsetting their emissions of the gases blamed for heating the planet, said Achim Steiner, head of UNEP.

1. What about Jim Hansen (& poss others) calling for GLOBAL NET NEGATIVE GHG emissions?
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, says Jim Hansen, have ALREADY reached a tipping point so that there are ALREADY enough GHGs in the atmosphere to melt the Arctic sea ice EVERY SUMMER -- a feedback loop that can only be stopped at LOWER CO2 and other GHG levels than we have now.

This distinction is crucial -- progressive minded people need to realize that "climate neutrality", especially on the part of the most progressive polities and institutions (Norway has set 2030 as its target date for Climate Neutrality), is not going far enough.

Beware BOTH of those who deny/pooh-pooh global warming, including its significance, especially how they shift debate over to proving over and over again that global warming is a reality, AND the INSUFFICIENT solutions put forward by actually (or possibly in some cases just seemingly) PROGRESSIVE AND SYMPATHETIC parties. Doing too little in a situation like this could leave us with a state of nature like that described in Walt Whitman's "Respondez! Respondez!"
