HOME energy systems are fast becoming a real estate selling-point, the Real Estate Institute of South Australia has found.

President Robin Turner said buyers would soon demand energy and water-saving features.

"It's like safety equipment in cars," he said. "Now people are demanding those things in their cars, whereas before people just wouldn't payfor them.

"I think it will come and will come quickly. There is a market for it."

The price difference between a home with solar power and one without can be more than the cost of the system, Toop & Toop managing director Anthony Toop says.

1. took a ride today in a backyard retrofitted Neon, plug in electric with a range of

about 50 miles per charge. Electic cost is 2 cnts per mile ( approximately)
all off the shelf technology, and the owner says the next generation batteries will drop in weight from 90 pounds each ( it has 10 ) to less than 20 pounds each. he has $5000 in the whold shebang ( he bought the car for $300 with a blown engine.) we were zipping along at about 70 like the golf cart from hell, it was great.
