1. Veggie or Flower gardening?
We did quite a bit as far as veggies are concerned, and a few flowers - then transplanted them outdoors. If you're looking for good indoor only solutions... Aloe & cooking herbs are always great.

9. Depends on watering
Aloe is very drought tolerant and will cease growing during long periods without water. However, with regular watering, it will take off like a weed. I planted some 6-8" size shoots outdoors in Las Vegas and watered them 2 or 3 times a week and they took off. Two years later they were 3-4 feet high. If you keep them in a container, they will quickly get root bound and that will also stop their growth.

Cherry tomatoes and peppers will do well in pots if you want something that you can move out into the sun and back inside. Basil is also good in a pot, and fresh pesto can't be beat. If you pinch off any buds that develop or keep it in a cool place where it won't bolt, it can also be a perennial instead of an annual. Other small herbs like cilantro, thyme, marjoram, oregano, and mint can also be grown in pots or window boxes.

2. You are asking this on DU?
I imagine the answer from Du'ers relates to the most profitable crop in the USA.

7. Get a Hoya
They like a sunny window and cool nights. They thrive on neglect. The flowers are little gem-like stars with a wonderful fragrance. We've had one in the house for forty years.

12. The bigger the pot, the bigger the plant
Hoyas are climbers. They root in the crotch of trees, so they don't need a huge pot. If they have the space they will grow around a sunny window, but they grow rather slowly. The leaves are dark green, kind of leathery ovals. A hoya will grow contentedly in a 6 inch pot for years. They like cool night temperatures.

11. been there done that
Ok heres the story. We brought some cow patties back from Texas and put them on a metal rack, the kind made of little bars spaced an inch or so apart with several shelves, about 48 inches tall overall. Anyway we put it in the shower we didn't use and when we wanted to have a party we would turn the hot water on the night before and let it soak them turds real good and the next morning they would be literally covered with 'shrooms some would be 5, 6 inches in diameter or bigger some small, as small as a marble. In our expermentation it didn't seem to matter if one eat the biggest one or the smallest one they still got a buss on. we were susprised at how long the turds lasted too before they desolved and went down the drain.

15. I used to plant green peppers inside.
I just dried out the seed from a store bought pepper, and then planted it and put it on the window sill till it sprouted. Then planted it in a medium sized pot - they were very pretty plants.
