REpower & RWE Innogy Make 1.9-GW Deal (off/onshore wind, Netherlands)
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/story?id=51650

REpower Systems Group and RWE Innogy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the negotiation of framework agreements for the supply of up to 1,900 megawatts (MW) of wind turbines. The agreement involves approximately 250 offshore wind turbines of the 5 and 6-MW class and approximately 200 onshore wind turbines of the 2-MW class.

The companies plan to conclude the negotiations on the framework agreements within the next three month or by the end of the year at the latest. The wind turbines should then be manufactured and delivered by REpower to RWE within a timeframe of 4 to 6 years, beginning on January 1, 2010.

In related news RWE Innogy and RWE Energy Nederland have jointly submitted proposals to the Dutch authorities to build at least two major offshore wind farms in the Netherlands with a combined capacity of 2 GW.

The wind farms are at two locations. The first is called Tromp, where 1150 MW of capacity is proposed 64 km off the coast of Ijmuiden in a water depth of approximately 26 metres, which would not be visible from shore. The full details of the second location will be announced at a later date. The first licenses to be granted within the next two to three years.
