Another interesting reason not to drill in ANWR
Just watched a show on the Travel Channel about the Aurora Borealis. The solar energy that causes the Northern Lights can also supercharge any conductive material in the area, including oil pipelines. In case you need another reason to protect nature (and, as far as I know, Republicans can't control the AB).

I'll be disappointed if I wake-up in the morning and some woo-woo doesn't post what I expect to see.

10. Eh, just ground them, which is what is done now.
Add a ground strap, problem solved. Just make sure it's big enough for a few 30+ kA lightning strikes.
