Solar mfg breaks ground in New Mexico
More and more everyday...

Executives from SCHOTT AG, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and local dignitaries have ceremonially broken ground on the company's new manufacturing facility. The site, located in the Mesa del Sol region of Albuquerque, New Mexico, will produce both photovoltaic (PV) modules and receivers for concentrated solar thermal power plants (CSP). Production is expected to begin as early as spring 2009.
...

Long term plans call for the building to expand to 800,000 square feet with employment reaching 1,500 people, representing a total investment of $500 million.

3. These are the kinds of industries Richardson has been getting
for this state. Meanwhile, he's invested in infrastructure like a north-south commuter rail line to link all the exurbs along the Rio Grande with the big cities, something that will be very important to businesses moving here.

I'm glad we've gotten to keep him, but the country as a whole is poorer for it.
