Wind-farm developer Columbia Energy Partners has expanded into solar.

The Vancouver-based company on Wednesday announced plans to build a 2 megawatt, $20 million solar project on private property in Eastern Oregon. Scheduled for completion by year's end, it would be the largest solar project in Oregon.

Columbia Energy plans to erect the ground-mounted photovoltaic panels on private property near the Gilliam County town of Arlington, which already is home to more than 100 megawatts of wind energy.

The solar panels would connect to PacifiCorp's transmission grid, which would then feed local homes and businesses.
