Nuclear boom prompts proliferation concerns
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/05/13/2242995.htm?section=world

<snip>

At least 11 of the 40 countries starting or expanding their nuclear programs are within the Middle East, among them Kuwait, Saudia Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Each of them has abundant reserves of oil and gas, so some nuclear proliferation experts are worried that their nuclear plans may be focused more on Iran's nuclear ambitions than they are on generating domestic electricity.

"Whenever a country goes down the path of acquiring the technologies required for nuclear weapons, the countries around it sit up and take notice but Iran is certainly well down that path," Dr Davies said.

"The intelligence estimate that came out in the US last year said that Iran has the technology, the engineering and the industrial capacity to produce nuclear weapons."

1. yet, we talk about ramping up our own nuke production with what's it called, "smart nukes"
"bunker busters", I guess. Our nominees say they are going to use our nuclear arsenal to "obliterate" sovereign countries who attack other sovereign countries allied with the US even though those allies have NUKES OF THEIR OWN!

Not hard to see what is wrong with this picture.

2. Oh my God! Arabs with nuclear power! Bomb! Bomb! Bomb! Bomb!
Actually zero nuclear bombs have been dropped in the last 50 years, even though nuclear power went in that period from being 0% of the world's energy supply to being 6% of the world's quadrupled energy supply.

Of course, in spite of this fact, anti-muslim racists have succeeded in getting lots of dangerous fossil fuel type bombs dumped on Arabs - vast amounts really - by claiming that Arabs can't have nuclear power, the world's largest, by far, form of climate change gas free energy, and the form of energy with the lowest, by far, external cost.

I note, with contempt for racism, that while Europeans were trying to figure out whether the black plaque was caused by original sin or the failure to engage in self flagellation, Arabs were inventing the system of numerals now used in every nation on earth, and developing algebra using their tool.

Now, of course, the Western world is claiming the right to kill Arabs by inciting nuclear ignorance.

Ignorance kills.

Racism sucks.

Jordanians and Saudis have as much right to nuclear power as any other human on the planet. Likewise Pakistan, likewise Indonesia, likewise Maylasia.

Racism sucks.
