3. That's been around for decades. I remember back in Carter's day
complaining that big oil was blocking alternative energy research.

That would be BP Solar.

The world's largest wind company is owned by a nuclear company.

That would be Areva, which owns RealPower.

The world's largest uranium supplier is not owned by an oil company.

In general the assumption that wind and solar are the answers to some kind of liberatarian "freedom" game is trash.

I note that the automobile companies first advertised themselves as "freedom" merchants who would free humanity from the rail barons.

Heckuva job.

5. I don't see it as a panacea, but we need some thinking big because
we may not try if we thought it was for naught. It's a lofty goal.

The most important thing we need to do is stop making so many babies. We are fucking ourselves into extinction.

7. But they can influence their clients in congress to suppress funding for
research into alternatives, or twist facts. Look at Inhofe.
