Losing Louisiana: new series from the Times-Picayune
They've done some really good work here pulling together all of the current research on the topic.

1. A note of interest to those on the east coast
Louisiana isn't the only state in danger of coastal erosion per the article. Although LA and FL are the most vulnerable.

Great stuff Mountain Laurel and thanks for bringing it up.

3. What surprised me
Is how quickly the situation is deteriorating. I was stunned to realize that the computer models run 2 years ago have to be changed because the existing data are so much worse.

4. The entire Gulf Coast from Fla to Texas is threatened by barrier Island loss.
But Louisiana has been sabotaged by the Corp. of Engineers for decasdes.

I strongly recommend the book "Rising Tide" by John Barry.
It is a history of the levees, the 1927 flood, the warring factions and viewpoints that created the problem so evident today, and why Katrina was so much more devastating in New Orleans than it needed to be.
An excellent read.
