Anybody catch this morning's Dianne Rehm?
the topic seems to be the recent EPA ruling about CO2 being a health hazard. It's some awesome theater watching these people backpedal about actually doing anything. "Hey, wait just a damned minute! This is going to be expensive!"

Hatrack's principle in action, I tell you.

1. Yes, that was an interesting discussion. Diane's show is an island of sanity. nt

2. Hatrack's Principle?
Does it have something to do with the inverse relation between Americans' environmental enthusiasm and the costs of environmental solutions?

3. Yes: Hatrack's principle states that...
Americans will do anything to protect the environment, as long as it costs them exactly nothing and causes them absolutely no inconvenience.

I suspect that this principle may actually apply to all humans, but here in America we have raised it to the status of cultural icon.

5. I figure I'm helping the environment every day
by posting in e/e and drinking Sierra instead of Flat Tire. :patriot:

6. I hate to quote a conservative freak, but like a clock that's right two times a day,
P.J. O'Rourke once wrote that "Americans will do anything for the environment other than open a science book."

I've observed that one lots of times.

4. I listened
I listen to WAMU all day. Kojo Nnamdi just recently dropped his anti-environment BS every time the issue was brought up.

And I caught Diane Rehm today. I should have known they'd let a "Climate change is a SCAM" caller have his minute but it still got my heart racing.
It was lots of talk, yack yack yack, everyone who took part can feel good about themselves, or whatever..
