Extreme Weather Changes Russian Attitudes on Climate Change
We'll see if Putin changes the course of Russia's energy policy.


For years, Russia has officially been skeptical of the need to take action to reduce carbon emissions. This not surprising given that the country is the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas and has the fourth highest greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

Yet after this summer’s devastating wildfires, drought and choking smoke, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has signaled a significant change in attitude.
