2. I've been to Cataloochee actually and I don't think so because....
elk are more of a grazer than anything else. In PA they love acorns. In the Smokies they haven't been around enough to impact the local flora.

4. They used to be in the Smokies anyway...
...so reintroducing them shouldn't present any problems. I spend as much time in the Smokies as I can.
