China's first strategic oil reserve begins operation

TOKYO, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- China's first strategic oil reserve base began operation this week as oil started filling up its tanks, the state-run China Daily reported Friday.

The reserve base, located in Ningbo in the eastern province of Zhejiang, has a capacity of 5.2 million cubic meters, according to the daily. About CNY 3.7 billion (USD 462 million) has been invested in the reserve.
