Nova-Dimming the Sun....
Did anyone see Nova last night?? It was called Dimming the Sun and explained the phenomenon of global dimming (which I had never heard of). What it came around to was that global dimming has actually been saving us from the full effects of global warming and how it complicates the matter of addressing and fixing global warming. It was very interesting and very scary.

1. I think you saw a repeat of an earlier broadcast. But everyone should be
made aware of the material it covered. Recommended #1

6. Thanks. Yes, I wondered if maybe
it was a rebroadcast. I'm glad they re-aired it - more people need to see it.

I actually missed a little bit at the beginning, but, boy, it sure got my attention fast! Scary stuff.

Thanks for recommending. :)

3. Hell Of A Ride...
Well, this helps to confuse the already confusing matter of trying to figure out what the weather's going to be like in 50 years. One thing's for sure... we're in for a hell of a ride. Might as well get that Mars base going.

4. I had caught it before
Global dimming has apparently reduced the global warming by about half. Both bad conditions.

9. Regrettably, this also is true.
However, this does give mankind a method by which we can moderate the effects. With all the positive feedback mechanisms in the environment with regards to global warming, we may have to use the dimming effects of particulate pollution to cool things down. Of course, we could always trigger a couple of big volcanoes...

10. But....
Not really....

The only reason why the populated areas of the world experience the effects of global dimming continuously is that the sulphur dioxide causing the cooling has to be pumped out of power stations continuously. The effects are limited to the troposphere, so the SO2 would rain out after a week. It's like trying to hold back the tide.
Of course, CO2 is also released with SO2 in volcanoes! (and manmade global warming pumps out 100x more CO2 annually than all the worlds volcanoes combined....)
