Rep. Rohrabacher: Global Warming May Have Been Caused By ‘Dinosaur Flatulence’
This week, Congress held its first hearing on the landmark IPCC report on climate change. That report concluded that global warming is “unequivocal” and human activity is the main driver, “very likely” causing most of the rise in temperatures since 1950.

During the hearing, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) — one of the 87 percent of congressional Republicans who do not believe in man-made global warming — questioned the authors of the report about a period of dramatic climate change that occured 55 million years ago. “We don’t know what those other cycles were caused by in the past. Could be dinosaur flatulence, you know, or who knows?’

1. We had a DUer arguing essentially the same thing ....

An absurd ad ignorantiam argument .... pure fallacy ...

I requested a detailed explanation of what 'natural' causation was at work to explain the current phenomena .... I received nothing of substance ...

4. well Rohrabacher can kiss his job goodbye
if the people have a brain in that district!

just running commercials of the seriousness of the matter for 15 seconds and showing the amount of ice melt, then for 15 seconds showing him saying that foolishness should put a Dem in his seat... goodness, I wish I lived there to run! lol

5. I'll Get Flamed...
But the concept is not totally without merit. Cattle are thought to be a major contributor to the production of greenhouse gases today. But, I wouldn't try to use that as an excuse to say that humans are not having an impact on global warming... to the contrary, I would use it as part of an argument that a population can grow until it has exhausted its resources and drowns in its own waste.

6. Dinosaur farts caused the PETM?
Edited on Sun Feb-11-07 07:08 PM by Dead_Parrot
That's a good trick, they'd been dead for ten million years.

That other things can cause sudden climate change is already well known. All we've learned in today's lesson is that Rohrabacher is a dumbass.
