The Desert Research Institute (DRI), Reno, Nevada, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated post doctoral research associate in the rapidly emerging area of Renewable Energies – Wind Energy. The appointment is of one year duration and could be extended for two additional years based on performance and funding availability. The candidate will participate in and lead individual tasks within ongoing and future planned wind assessment studies using data from meteorological towers and conducting high-resolution mesoscale and microscale modeling as well as in subsequent analysis and reporting. Candidates will be evaluated on communication skills, proposal and publication record, grant and contract activities, ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and personal area of expertise that complements existing staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
-- Ph.D. in atmospheric science, environmental science, earth science, engineering or other relevant disciplines.
-- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
a) Renewable energies
b) Wind analysis, modeling, and forecasting
c) Acquisition and analysis of large data sets
e) Mesoscale modeling
f) Microscale modeling
g) Climate analysis and modeling
-- Ability to work collaboratively and productively with postdoctoral advisor and other faculty in an interdisciplinary environment.
-- Ability to work independently to fulfill project goals and meet project deadlines.
-- Demonstrated ability to perform research and publish results in the peer-reviewed literature.
-- Excellent English-language communication skills (oral and written).
