Suspicious package causes closure of Federal Reserve entrance in Miami

MIAMI - The entrance to the Federal Reserve in Miami was closed Tuesday after a suspicious package was found in or near the building.

Miami-Dade County police said a bomb squad was on the scene to check the suspicious package. No vehicles were being allowed in or out of the building.

A delivery truck was parked at the security checkpoint at the entrance of the heavily guarded building, but it was not immediately known where the package was discovered.

A busy street in front of the building in the Doral area of Miami was closed, snarling traffic during rush hour.

The Associated Press' offices in Miami are located in the building, which was not evacuated.
