1. The title led me to expect that HHS swooped down and saved 70K people from certain death.
The fact that the guy changed his mind doesn't jibe with the use of "averted" in the title.

2. Yeah, that one was funny.
The guy mailed out 8-10 copies of his "manifesto" ahead of time. Sounds a lot more like a cry for help or attention than a serious attempt at mass murder.

If he was serious about it, he would have dropped 'em in the mail on the way to the stadium, after he picked up the ammo.
