1. Good on him!
It's great to see honest, law-abiding citizens with the means to defend and secure their own personal liberties. It's a shame anti-gun folks would leave an 80-year-old man to battle it out hand-to-hand or call the police to follow-up after the fact.

2. it most likely saved his life, nice work!
In a perfect world, we wouldn't need guns. But the "reality" world is a harsh place, and we need to protect ourselves from scum like those robbers. Keeping a gun at home may not guarantee my safety, but it would sure as hell increase my chances of surviving. And for that reason alone, I want to own a handgun.

4. There's an excellent example of motivation...
For the two would be robbers to take up a more honest(and less risky) lifestyle. For criminals
never know when they're going to run into someone with a stronger survival instinct than they.

indicates that firearms in the home are most likely to be legally used in self defense.
