More Democrats Line Up for Sensible Firearms Legislation
http://www.kansascity.com/115/story/501796.html

A near majority of the Senate, including Democrats and Republicans from Western states, has backed a drive to repeal the ban, which has been in place in some parks for at least 100 years.

In the same article

In a measure of the bipartisan support for relaxing gun laws, a majority of Congress -- 55 senators and 250 House members -- recently urged the Supreme Court to strike down the District of Columbia’s strict handgun ban.

For those alarmists that will cry about not "feeling" safe, firearms have been allowed in the park since 1983, they just had to be unloaded and stored.

1. I'm glad Dems are finally dropping the gun control albatross.
Now we can get onto more progressive legislation!

2. A large caliber handgun would be suitable for two legged predators..

However, being very aware of your surroundings and fleet of foot would be desirable in the case of
bears, mountain lions and the like. And it's about time the Feds got their heads out of the sand.;-)

3. The gun issue has caused many gun owners to vote Republican.
If the Democratic Party drops the push for draconian gun legislation many gun enthusiasts will switch parties from Republican to Democrat. Pro gun voters have probably cost Democrats many close elections, including several Presidential elections.

It's quite possible that after the General Election Democrats will control both houses and the Presidency. If they then enact extremely restrictive gun legislation, the pro gun voters will return to the Republican Party. The midterm elections might move the Democrats out of the drivers seat in the House and Senate.

Some examples of extreme gun legislation which would ignite a firestorm with gun owners include:

1) A total ban on semi auto firearms.

2) A Federal law eliminating concealed weapon permits.

3) Using unproven and expensive technology to require firearms to microstamp cartridge cases with identifying numbers.

4) Making firearm manufacturers liable for criminal misuse of weapons.

5) Banning all handgun ammunition.

If, on the other hand, they work on reasonable gun laws that make it extremely difficult for criminals and people with dangerous mental problems to acquire and misuse firearms but protect the right of honest citizens to own firearms ...the Democratic Party might be the dominate party for years to come.

Not only that, the bad guys have had loaded, unstored firearms all along, since they simply disregard gun laws.

8. got really bored on a Sunday afternoon

so you figured you'd bore the rest of the world? Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking -- Not only that, the bad guys have had loaded, unstored firearms all along, since they simply disregard gun laws.

How could I have missed that gem of deep thought there?

5. Now I agree that is sensible. Normally when politicians
start talking about sensible gun legislation it means something is getting banned.

I's wise to carefully follow directions to the range:

12. Obama should be leading the charge
toward full recognition of the Bill of Rights. That's how he bills himself--as a "constitutional scholar" who will obey our founding document.

But instead of leading, he's bringing up the rear.

Doesn't he understand we need change?!!

13. BO has supported banning handguns and semiautomatics. He now wants to CHANGE his position and HOPE
naive independent voters will believe him.

Will they?

Have FAITH and chant “HOPE, CHANGE, . .. HOPE, CHANGE”, you will be invested with supernatural powers that will allow you to defeat all the demons in your fantasy.
