Good thing this man was armed...
Bullet pierced cockpit; pilot may have mishandled gun

http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/03/bullet-pierced.html

A round from a .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol pierced the hull of a USAirways flight Saturday when the pilot discharged it accidentally as the jet approached the Charlotte, N.C., airport, the Associated Press is reporting.

3. Do you think the last words he said before he discharged it was:
HEY, Watch this!

5. The guns definitely the problem here.
I heard it had a bunch of drinks at the bar before the flight. Refused to stay in it's holster, was belligerent to the flight crew and then bam it just went off.

6. Does rather firmly silence
that silly-assed belief held by many that a plane will undergo explosive decompression if a bullet penetrates the skin...

Why so many people would think a scene from a Bond flick was absolute fact is beyond me.

7. TSA is partially to blame
Their requirements are dangerous, and probably are partially to blame for this 'accident'. The armed pilot is required to put a padlock THROUGH the trigger every time he leaves the cockpit.
