Will Bob Casey's (D-PA) Obama endorsement help him with 2A supporters?
How popular is Casey in Pennsylvania and will his support -- and strong Second Amendment stance -- help Obama with undecided voters? Does Philadelphia's hostility to PA's legislature on gun issues indicate a revolt against Casey's pro-2A stand or that city's isolation when it comes to gun control?

1. I doubt it.
I'm pretty sure that we won't hear word one from the Obama campaign on guns from here on out. At least I hope so.

2. It might
I'm for Obama, as I see him as the lesser of two evils when it comes to the Second Amendment. Granted, neither one of them has said anything substantive on the matter, so it's all speculation at this point.

Obama's relationship with the Joyce Foundation isn't exactly my favorite thing about him though.

3. BO's advisers must know how critical RKBA is. He's an excellent speaker and could defuse the issue
by simply saying "I promise all voters that I will veto every bill that comes to me that infringes upon a law-abiding citizen's right to keep and bear arms for self-defense and other legal purposes."

The fact that he has not done that simple task makes me question his support for RKBA.

5. I doubt very much that he is going to say that.

The best we can hope for is conspicuous silence. Even if he did his record would belie his rhetoric, opening him up to charges of "flip-flopping." Senator Kerry's efforts to court gun owners, which I applauded, were largely met with derision. I don't think Senator Obama has much to gain by trying to portray himself as a friend of the Second Amendment.

4. Did Richardson's endorsement have any effect on 2A Supporters?

6. I haven't heard anything specific, but...
I doubt it.

I was (and remain) a big Richardson fan, (though I voted for Edwards) and I'd be very excited to see him land the VP spot. I just don't think gun control/RKBA issues are going to play much of a role in the general election.
