Officer Kills Wife, Self in Front of Children
2007/11/15
@ 06:33 AM (5 months, 27 days ago)

The Kids were home when their cop dad killed Mom. Then he turned the gun on himself .

Police tape marks the area off limits at the scene of a murder-suicide in the Town of Highlands yesterday where a Port Authority policeman shot and killed his wife and himself.
Fort Montgomery — The call came in Monday night as a domestic dispute at the Hudson View Terrace Mobile Home Park, just north of the Town of Highlands Police Department.
Minutes later, two officers pulled up alongside No. 86, a tidy, gray single-wide with festive Halloween signs planted in the lawn and a smiling paper skeleton on the door.
As the officers headed up the walkway, the front door swung open and four kids bolted outside, hollering for help.

Then the shooting started.

Officers had "no idea what they were walking into," said Officer-in-charge Randall Bailey.

What his cops walked into was the sad ending of an apparent murder-suicide. The frightened children's parents, police said, were dead on the kitchen floor.

Apparently there is an art form here consisting of posting dramatic heart-wrenching posts with no points. Maybe the purpose is to evoke a mood in the art appreciating readers.
I know I’m new at this, but I thought I’d try my hand.

Art critics, tell me how I did, OK?

5. the poor innocents abroad in the Guns forum

Nobody seems to notice where they are when the slow-moving latest page confronts them with a post in a place they've never been before.

I guess I'll have to ask the old question.

The point?

Don't be looking at me. I don't hold with off-duty police officers having any greater access to firearms than anyone else. Which would mean virtually zero access to handguns, for starters.

Were any of these individuals on duty at the time? Is it common for police officers who are on duty, and are in possession of the firearms provided to them for use, if necessary, in the performance of their duties, to kill family members or other members of the public in acts of rage having nothing to do with the performance of their duties?

Just curious.

atleast you are consistent unlike the gun control advocates in congress- there is always an exception for off-duty/retired police officers- cause thats the only way they will get support for the law from police

dirty little games they play

7. I really do believe you're trying to make some kind of point.
I just can't make out what it might be.

8. Isn't pointlessness the point?
Or at least a part of this art form, or fad, or whatever it is?

Doesn't it break some "code" or "taboo" to actually take a stand in one of these posts? To say what should or should not be done because of the cited horror story?

People criticize my pointless post while ignoring other, equally pointless ones, so there must be some finer details of the horror story aesthetic that I'm missing.

There's something more than pointlessness to these pointless horror OPs, but no one is telling what it is. Oh well, I guess I'm not a horror natural.

9. People post links to all kinds of stories here.
Some are like yours, others are absurd and humorous. All a part of the Human Comedy.
The only stand I can think of taking in response to this particular story is that it is what it is. Another tragic scene. Send in the clowns.
