"Rally to repeal conceal carry".
"Rally to repeal conceal carry"

"EAGAN, MN -- Sunday, opponents of the recently passed law requiring authorities to issue conceal - carry hand gun permits to anyone who is qualifed rallied in the Governor's home town of Eagan.

Rep. Nora Slawik, (DFL) Maplewood, said, "We don't want this law, and Governor Pawlenty needs to listen to us, right?"

The crowd cheered.

About 200 Minnesotans spent the afternoon signing petitions and speaking out against the state's new conceal and carry law. One mother said it's a law so bad, even her preschooler gets it.

Kim Stanley told Eyewitness News reporter Brad Rogers, "When my daughter who's five and a half tells me that only police should have guns, and that she wants to grow up, she wants to go to kindergarten, she wants to be six, something is wrong. If a five and a half year old gets it, why can't our government?"

People here point to a 1999 study by the Brady center that found states with strict handgun laws enjoyed a 30-percent drop in crime in the 1990's versus a 15% drop for states with conceal and carry laws."

1. "real smart"
Do want Minnesota to be Blue or Red next November?

Gun control promotes a victimology on the Left and disempowers the groups we seek to represent. I for one, don't want our people disarmed while the Klan, Freepers and gay bashers carry guns no matter what (not to mention conventional criminals).

A little nighttime reading for you:

4. I went the Million Mom march event at the Georgia capital and there were..
NRA thugs accosting this mostly female group. A couple dozen of the NRA's finest in greasy black t-shirts in all their glory. It takes guts to stand up against the gun culture in this demented testosterone poisoned land. A thumbs up to these 200 brave people.

Edited on Mon Jul-07-03 10:32 PM by the_acid_one
...overweight, bitchy, most likely single (for a reason) mommys. Intent on enforcing their will on everyone else.

But hey, who are we to judge.

Their tragedies have been exploited by the shameless Brady/VPC/MMM bottom feeders.

12. None of the San Diego area Moms I've met were overweight or bitchy
One was married, one divorced, and one widowed. They listened intently to what I had to say because they were admittedly lacking in knowledge about guns and gun laws. The only thing they knew well was their personal experiences: One had a frightening encounter with a negligently stored gun at a relative's house; the second had worked as a surgical nurse in a trauma center; and the third was a British immigrant shocked by the level of violent crime in the US.

I was the token pro-RKBA person. Let me tell you something: We all agreed that reducing violent crime and accidental injuries were goals we held in common.

..of the NRA people i've met have been greasy thugs. But if they can typify us, we can play the same game.

I'm glad that you had a better experiance then some. The second ammendment sisters had a problem with MMMers storming their table at a rally tearing it up and throwing their pamplets in the trash while spitting cussing and calling them names.

I've seen pro-gunners post that tale many times, with no backup for it. Please provide a link to back up your claim. Otherwise, let's put this legend to rest once and for all.

16. Please Provide a More Reliable Source
WorldNet Daily is lower than the Washington Times, and just as bogus. Unless a story can be found on a more mainstream site, chances are it was made up.

..Themselves verify such occourances. Obviously a biased source, but I sincerely doubt they'd go so far as to outright lie about things like that.

If gun nuts couldn't lie they'd have to be mute.

Which SAS claimed it, I wonder? Maybe Mary Rosh!

But I dont recall ever mentioning Lott, as i recall, you're the one that brought it up this and pretty much every other time. Hence why I think you might be a tad obsessed.

"And I have no doubt you get what you describe."

Great, Then I guess it makes the SAS story just that much more likely ;)

28. A little more info
hmmmmmmmm it's Kopel though
http://www.co-freedom.com/2001/05/bigotedmoms.html

"Assaults and other violence by Million Mom members have been documented in other places, including Philadelphia. In one case the Second Amendment Sisters found their property destroyed. No one is suggesting that the Million Mom organization directly advocated the assaults, property damage, or spitting"

Other not so nice acts:
"In Fort Collins last August, the "Million" Mom group advertised a "public" meeting, so a small group of civil arms activists, led by Bob Glass, showed up to take notes. Million Mom member Cherie Trine described Glass's group to Boulder Weekly columnist Wayne Laugesen as "a neo-Nazi group that wants to terrorize the whole community. They're very anti-Semitic, anti-gay, racist people. They might as well be wearing KKK caps. They're like the people who hate government and want to bomb federal buildings." In fact, Glass is a Jew who advocates civil rights for everyone and denounces acts of violence.

Apparently, Trine's demonization of Glass and his friends made it easier for her to strike one of them with a clipboard, resulting in her subsequent arrest."

"At last year's Mother's Day event in Denver, Jeff Wright was peacefully carrying a sign expressing his support of the Second Amendment, an action the First Amendment affirms is his right. One woman wearing a "Million Mom" T-shirt walked up and spat on him."

Let's not forget Barbara Graham either.

27. As part of the so-called "gun culture"...
and a member of the NRA, I've never thought of myself as thuggish. Hmm. Maybe after reading your enlightening post I'll have to reconsider....

Nope, not thuggish. I checked.

Bearded.

Young-looking.

Pleasant demeanor.

Perhaps a bit enthusiastic in voicing my political opinions.

But definitely not thuggish. Nor testosterone-poisoned.

Whew. I feel much better now.

6. Not surprising...
LOL!!! The sound of a troop of 200 howling tortured capuchins caught in a snare net. :nopity:

One mother said it's a law so bad, even her preschooler gets it.

The mind of a child... LOL!!!... mirror's the cranial capacity, educational level and intelligence of the average knuckle-dragging gun-grabber. When will they ever learn?

9. Five year olds...
...hardly possess the intelligence to make informed decisions for themselves. If mommy says it's bad, it's bad. Not suprirsing that a brainwashed little kid is going to agree with her misguided mothers political agenda.

Wait till the aforementioned five year old gets old enough to see what happens when only the governement has weapons.

Momentum For Concealed Carry Growing Nationwide
-- Alaska becomes the next state to adopt Vermont-style carry

Gun control proponents are continuing to lose key battles across the country, as citizens in a growing number of states can now carry firearms concealed

Based on information found at the Packing.org website, there are now 35 states which are either shall-issue states or free carry states, like Vermont and Alaska.

21. We should always listen to children
And teenagers, and young adults, and 30-somethings, middle-agers, and old farts.

It's interesting to see how peoples' opinions evolve and change as they gain knowledge and experience.

Young children are interesting because they know so very little.
